King County Washington is located in the northwest corner of the United States, in the heart of the Puget Sound region. Comprised of shining cities, expansive suburbs and tranquil rural communities it is inhabited by a diverse, educated and cultured people. The county’s climate is mild and moderately moist. Winters are comparatively warm and mild with an average of only 15 days below freezing per year and 5.5 inches of rain per month. Summers average in the low 70s with rainfall at about 1.5 inches per month. The topography is varied from sea level to 6,270 feet. To the west is Puget Sound and to the east are the Cascade Mountains.

The region is the thirteenth largest metropolitan area in the nation and the county is the twelfth most populous. Home to nearly 2 million people living in 39 cities and unincorporated areas, King County has the largest population and the largest number of businesses, 80,000, within the State of Washington. It is a leading global center for several emerging industries in aerospace, technology, trade and logistics and has the largest concentration of residents that hold college degrees in America. Cutting edge companies and an unmatched spirit of innovation find a home here making the county the largest business center and the home to some of the world’s most successful businesses including Amazon.com, Costco, Expedia, Microsoft, Nintendo of America, Nordstrom, PACCAR, RealNetworks, Starbucks, and Safeco.

The education and medical communities are both anchored by the world renowned University of Washington. Transportation links such as I-5 and I-90 and the worlds 3rd largest auto ferry system network the county with the rest of the state. The city of Seattle is the county seat and the state’s largest city and is 100 miles south of Canada and 165 miles north of Oregon. King County offers a wide range of lifestyles, from the sophisticated and urban to the picturesque, small town life found in its many rural and suburban areas. By a variety of publications the county has been named as: The top city to live and work in the United States; Sixth out of the ten best U.
